This photo is a continuation of yesterday's entry. Here's a story of this hand gesture:
The Spring Festival Parade, otherwise known as the Chinese New Year Parade, was happening at the time. And everyone was just busy watching the parade. The parade was about to finish when I decided to rush down into Harrison Road, where the parade was still going on, to catch more action. On my way, I spotted this beggar and thought that it would make a nice composition if I photographed her, so I took some snapshots. I didn't take long for her to notice me, and as soon as she does, she gestures her hands towards me, begging for alms. I reached for my pocket for change and gave her some, and she smiled. I continued taking pictures of her but I noticed that her hand seems to always get in the way. I didn't realize right away that she's blocking the camera. I smiled as a sign of thanks, while she was smiling herself, maybe because somehow someone noticed her amidst the crowd and all the festivities.
